About Tiasta

Tiasta Maaheqwur Cuskley (aka Tara Cuskley, Psy. D) is a licensed psychologist in private practice for over 10 years, helping clients heal their bodies, minds, and hearts, working with alternative psychological tools, somatic methods, and mindfulness. She is an initiate of the Dogon Tribe from West Africa and integrates time-tested indigenous wisdoms and knowledge into her work.

My Healing Story

In 2010, while completing my graduate degree in psychology, the sudden onset of unexplainable physical symptoms ignited my own search for greater well-being and began my questioning of the Westernized medical paradigm.

Beyond my psychological training, I began a journey of exploration through alternative health and energy healing modalities such as naturopathy, herbalism, energy healing, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), kundalini yoga, and meditation practices.  For the next several years, I took on personalized apprenticeships in shamanism and energy healing, with individual healers.

In 2018, I found the Dogon Tribe and The M’TAM Mystery School of Kemetic Philosophy and Spirituality through Kebtah. Recognizing the rarity and authenticity of knowledge held in this tradition, I decided to become initiated. My psychological training, spiritual journey, and various apprenticeship experiences, especially in West Africa, have elevated my spiritual journey and opened up a path of Ancestral connection and healing.

My own healing process deeply informs my work with others and my view of personal growth and self-transformation. It requires hard work and self awareness to grow and elevate ourselves to meet our own potential. I look forward to working with you to uncover your own unique path.

My Background

My psychological training is founded in cognitive-behavioral therapy through a doctorate in psychology from St. John’s University in Queens, NY, but my work has branched out significantly since my original training. I interned with NYU Langone, several NYC therapeutic schools, and BioBehavioral Institute. I have studied and apprenticed in indigenous healing methods in West Africa through Ankhasta Natural Healing and Kebtah (The Earth Center). In my practice I employ varied modalities with my clients including talk therapy, wellness coaching, somatic movement, meditation & mindfulness, and principles of indigenous natural healing.

  • Holistic Therapy to change your thinking and connect with yourself again.

  • Wellness Coaching to keep you on track with your health goals.

  • Somatic Release & Mindfulness sessions to move stuck energy and release trauma.

Who are the Dogon?

As a Dogon initiate, I have learned immensely from the indigenous ways of living, culture, language, and mentality. Many of these cultures today do not have nearly the amount of physical and mental illness that we see in Western society. It’s important for me to honor and acknowledge the source of many deep wisdoms I’ve been able to integrate into my life and work.

Today the Dogon live in many countries in West Africa. They are seen as the Kemetic (Ancient Egyptian) wisdom-keepers who, during the times of invasion, migrated so that their culture and spirituality could be kept pure. They are one of the most studied cultures in the world and are often known among academics for their knowledge of astronomy and their link to the Sirius star.

Amazingly, the ancient initiations of the pharaohs and priests have been preserved by the Dogon for many centuries in secret until it could be brought out again. In the 1990’s a Dogon High Priest, Master Neb Naba Lamoussa Morodenibig, received permissions from the temples and elders to bring the initiation to the West, which is when Kebtah (The Earth Center) was born. This ancient initiation is available to anyone with the heart and mind to humble themselves in front of ancient knowledge and traditions.
